Ask us anything

Q Jay • 04/11/2020, 6:29:41 PM What are the dimensions of the rack?
A 04/20/2020, 3:22:25 PM Roughly 77 x 47" usable area.
Q Mike • 05/19/2020, 0:43:43 AM What are the static and dynamic load (weight) ratings for your rack?
A 05/19/2020, 2:35:51 PM Lexus rates the GX roof with a factory rack at "Max load 130 lbs evenly distributed." Our rack itself can handle significantly more weight than that, and we've had 250 lbs dynamic weight on it without issue, static capacity is certainly well above that. All these weight will be at your discretion as they are above Lexus "recommended" capacities. If you need more information please contact us directly at [email protected]
Q Toan • 06/04/2020, 12:38:32 PM I see you mentioned the cross bars are "Milled T-nut access points" is that the same as the cross bars being "center bore"?
A 06/04/2020, 4:49:51 PM Sorry, could you please clarify this question to our customer service team at [email protected]
Q Peter Kempf • 06/04/2020, 4:15:32 PM What is the height when installed?
A 06/04/2020, 4:49:51 PM The top of the rack is roughly 2.5" above the surface of the roof when installed.
Q Peter kempf • 06/17/2020, 9:23:08 PM what is the width of the cross bars for the GX 460?
A 06/24/2020, 5:36:22 PM 47"
Q David • 07/18/2020, 9:50:46 PM Quick question. In your picture of the rack with the light bar is that a single row of lights or 2 ? Also what are the measurements for the cutout? Trying to decide what light bars will fit and look the best with your setup. Will be ordering soon !!
A 07/21/2020, 11:32:11 AM It is a single row light bar. Cutout fairing designed for 41.25" max lens housing width single row LED light bar. Most single row 40" bars will fit great.
Q Dean Pecce • 08/20/2020, 9:04:00 AM Do you have or can you recommend a good solution for safely and reliably securing multiple spares to the roof rack?
A 09/09/2020, 3:26:39 PM You can use part VRKACM with a UNI-TM on the rack.
Q Dean • 08/20/2020, 9:19:43 AM Is there a factory warranty on your roof racks? If so, what are the details of the warranty?
A 09/09/2020, 3:26:39 PM See our policies and warranties here: https://www.victory4x4.com/SARP.html
Q Jon • 10/08/2020, 12:44:15 PM Is there anyway to order a 48.125" wide GX rack? (for use with 4x8 sheets of plywood) Or order the contoured side plates separately, allowing oneself to create a custom setup?
A 10/16/2020, 3:25:50 PM Sorry, we only offer the rack in one configuration.
Q Alex • 11/03/2020, 1:40:32 PM Would you say it is car wash safe?
A 11/03/2020, 4:03:33 PM We use the carwash all the time with our racks, but it would obviously be at your own risk.
Q Marshall • 11/11/2020, 7:03:10 PM Does this rack work/fit on all GX 460’s? Even the newer body styles of 2014+?
A 11/12/2020, 5:44:39 PM Yes, no problems.
Q jason • 11/27/2020, 7:16:22 PM I just ordered this roof rack on 11/26/20. How many cross bars are included with the rack? There are 8 shown in all the photos' but the number of cross bars is not listed in the PDF instructions any where that I could find.
A 11/30/2020, 5:04:51 PM 7
Q sam • 12/02/2020, 2:14:19 PM Will this fit on a 2015 lexus gx460?

Q Myles Brooks • 01/13/2021, 10:33:01 AM How much weight will this hold? Rooftop tent work on it?
A 01/15/2021, 6:07:12 PM Lexus rates the GX roof with a factory rack at "Max load 165 lbs evenly distributed." Our rack itself can handle significantly more weight than that, and we've had 250 lbs dynamic weight on it without issue, static capacity is certainly well above that. All these weight will be at your discretion as they are above Toyota "recommended" capacities. If you need more information please contact us directly at [email protected]
Q john • 03/24/2021, 1:20:50 PM Is this rack compatible with roof boxes, specifically the skybox by yakima.
A 04/02/2021, 1:31:55 PM We have had customers mount roof boxes to these racks, but you would need to come up with a mounting solution.
Q Benjamin • 04/06/2021, 0:01:58 AM What be your recommended mounting solution for putting maxxtrax on the side of your rack?
A 04/12/2021, 1:13:17 PM Sorry we don't have a solution for that.
Q Rob • 04/30/2021, 8:30:08 PM Rooftop tent is 60x90. Too wide given the rack width (47)?
A 05/05/2021, 1:00:12 PM It would stick out 6 or so inches a side and you'd need to be sure it was spaced up enough to clear the side rails and such.
Q Lito Mercado • 05/16/2021, 2:55:42 PM Are there ant special attachments I need to mount a Thule cargo box to this rack?
A 05/21/2021, 9:59:41 AM Thule's universal mounts may work, we haven't tested here at the shop specifically.
Q Russell Endicott • 06/21/2021, 1:00:29 PM Most crossbar vendors say their crossbars won't fit 2021. Will this fit a 2021 gx460?
A 07/08/2021, 1:15:34 PM We have seen no issues with the 2021.
Q Raymond • 06/27/2021, 1:27:51 PM For the rear fairing, is it possible to mount scene lights? if so, what would be best way? would like to install baja designs s2 pro lights if that info helps.
A 07/08/2021, 1:15:34 PM The faring is angled, so scene lights wouldn't really point well. We recommend our VRKLT brackets for pod lighting, or VRKLED for side lighting on the rack.
Q Mark R • 06/30/2021, 7:35:09 PM You state this rack adds about 2.5" to the roof height. Is that 2.5" above the tip of the antenna or still within the antenna height? I have limited room with fitting into my garage so this is important! Thank you.
A 07/08/2021, 1:33:12 PM 2.5" above the roof sheetmetal.
Q Josh • 07/05/2021, 9:09:37 PM Will this work with a 06 Nissan Xterra?
A 07/08/2021, 2:01:38 PM It will not.
Q Michael • 07/28/2021, 12:13:10 PM The awning I ordered is considerably heavier than I thought it would be how much side hanging weight can it handle?
A 08/12/2021, 4:01:01 PM Quite a bit, but try and put your awning mounts near roof mounting brackets for the most stiffness. We would not hesitate to mount a 270 awning.
Q Bennett Tripp • 09/02/2021, 1:18:02 AM Will this fit on 2003 Nissan Pathfinder LE?
A 09/02/2021, 3:54:08 PM It will not.
Q Mike • 09/06/2021, 8:15:02 PM Will it fit a 2012 chevy tahoe. With a sunroof
A 09/07/2021, 1:26:08 PM It will not.
Q Matt • 10/21/2021, 9:10:45 AM One of the pics looks like the factory side rail is still mounted. I thought those came off to install this rack. I looked at the install doc and didn't see a reference to the factory side rails.
A 10/25/2021, 11:42:59 AM Yes, the factory rails will need to come off first. I believe the photo you are looking at is on a silver GX. The space between the sunroof and roof rack rail looks a little like a factory rail.
Q tyler heiman • 11/04/2021, 10:52:16 PM Will this roof rack work with the new Yakima CBX roof cargo box?
A 11/05/2021, 10:07:19 AM We have not tested this, but it looks like it should mount to the crossbars without a problem.
Q Hailey Clark • 11/05/2021, 2:11:37 PM Can you mount a snowboard rack to this?
A 11/11/2021, 8:25:23 AM Yes, you can use something like the Thule SnowPack 6 Ski/Snowboard Rack.
Q James • 01/21/2022, 6:55:36 PM Is this sealed up pretty good even if I don't install a lightbar right away with the hole cut? Will it collect/accumulate water?
A 01/24/2022, 1:43:42 PM The only issue with not running a lightbar is you may have increased wind noise.
Q Grayson • 03/16/2022, 4:40:05 PM Could a RTT sit directly on the side rail with the addition of some extra fairing trim on top of the side rail?
A 03/18/2022, 9:27:23 AM There shouldn't be a need for it to sit directly on the side rails. There are typically mounting rails on the bottom of the tent that will then sit on the rack crossbars. We recommend using our Roof Rack Roof Top Tent Mounting Brackets.
Q Riz Amanuddin • 04/13/2022, 8:28:46 PM Will standard kayak or SUP racks fit with the cross bars ?
A 04/27/2022, 12:01:31 PM For racks, use a Yakima JayLow with the rubber mounting pads removed, or many universal J-mounts will work on the bars as well.
Q Wade • 04/18/2022, 6:33:04 PM What is the channel distance, center to center, on your crossbars?
A 04/25/2022, 11:07:52 AM 1"
Q Mike • 04/21/2022, 12:30:44 PM Do you just sell the lightbar cutout front piece if I change my mind and want the cut out?

A 05/17/2022, 10:20:29 AM Yes you can. When you first install the rack just double check the position of that crossbar front to back and the clearance to the tilted sunroof.
Q Jerry • 05/25/2022, 4:24:44 PM Will the roof rack fit a 2018 Toyota Highlander?
A 05/25/2022, 4:54:42 PM This GX rack will not, but we do have a roof rack for the 2014-2019 Toyota Highlander!
Q Ryan • 05/27/2022, 9:37:39 PM Your directions for the GX460 show 5 sets of mounting holes for the roof mounts on each rail. The primary diagram shows 5 sets, and the other photos show five sets. The pictures show you utilizing set, two, three, and five, BUT the written directions say to use set two, three, and four. What’s correct?
A 06/09/2022, 4:25:37 PM Should be 2, 4, and 5. Sorry, there was an error in the instructions.

Q Bob Gernaat • 02/22/2023, 5:36:56 AM Will the Overland Vehicle systems nomadic 180 fit this rack?
A 02/23/2023, 11:58:27 AM Yes, but not sure our awning mounts (VRKAWN2) would mount it high enough to clear the doors. You may need to use a different mount.
Q Viktor • 06/01/2023, 1:43:28 AM How many inner cross bars does the rack come with initially? I count 7 on the photo, but it says nothing in description.
A 06/01/2023, 5:59:13 PM Yes, there are 7 crossbars in total.
Q Ken Liu • 07/11/2023, 8:59:48 AM What is the max height light bar that can fit in the cutout? I'd like to avoid a gap if possible. Thanks!
A 11/21/2023, 2:32:06 PM The lightbars are slightly adjustable in the opening. We recommend a single row 40 inch light bar.

A 10/19/2023, 12:01:22 PM It will not, here is a link to the LX470 rack that we offer. https://www.victory4x4.com/product/V100RK-F.html

Almost Perfect
(CA) | July 2nd, 2020
If you are interested in a Victory 4x4 rack, I am almost certain we were both looking at their competitors. I purchased this around 2/2020 and as of this review I have had a good 5 months of use and experience so I would like to give my feedback to help others. I just didn't like the look of Baja Rack or Front Runner although they are just as functional! (Probably easier to place and mount any and all accessories to be totally honest. You aren't limited to placement and mounting points on a crossbar style rack. You also aren't limited to mounting hardware either). If I am going to spend $1k+ on a roof rack the looks must factor into the equation! I narrowed it down to Prinsu or Victory. I watched their GX460 YouTube install and found it very helpful. There was a question in the comment section that distinguish their rack from others and this really helped make my decision. One of the features is the mounting brackets that attach the roof to the rack are made out of steel. Prinsu's "bracket" is part of their aluminum side panel that is a bent tab. Since Prinsu is a very very popular roof rack I have not heard of any failures on this point. However, just for my piece of mind I wanted to go with the steel mounting bracket instead. The quality, fit and finish are great. I had no problems with fitment issues and it was very straight forward. I had a problem with shipping from UPS at no fault of Victory 4x4. I e-mailed them and told them UPS damaged the box and upon further inspection, the separate box of hardware had fell out and was lost. The very next morning, I was contacted by Mitchell and he shipped out another set of hardware that day! Exceptional customer service! I have loaded my roof rack with your typical rife case, traction boards and 2 wavian jerry cans. The jerry cans by far weight the most -- 25-30ish pounds x2. It is mounted with the dual BajaRack jerry can holder. I mounted this in the center of the rack and noticed a lot of "bounce" but it never bottomed out and it never hit my roof. I thought about it more and after 10-15 trouble free miles on a mountain trail, I decided to shift it over closer to the side rail for more support. I am more confident with this setup now. Mounting, hardware and size of bolts really isn't easy information to find. You have to do some research. Here is what I've learned. These aluminum bars accept 1/4-20 carriage bolts because it has a square neck that slots into the rack, thus not spinning when you attach a nut to the threaded portion in comparison to your typical button head counterpart. The width of the rack opening is also 1/4". However, I had to grind down and "square off" the round carriage bolt edges to fit into the slot before sliding into the rail. I also had to grind down 2 sides of the square neck....we are talking 1mm each side due to clearance issues. It took me a while to figure this out! 1/4-20 t-bolts also fit but again I had to grind down and just angle the side edges a little. In my personal opinion, I do not think t-bolts are a higher torque/load type of nut so I would just stick with carriage bolts. I also found 1/4-20 "eye lifting" bolts that are the rings for tie downs. They are threaded to accept the 1" carriage bolts since I bought a 50 pack but the threads protrude into the eye hole a bit but there is enough space for a hook or rope. 3/4" carriage bolt would work better. T-nut hardware is a little oval threaded plate that you can slide into the rail and bolt from the top down. The biggest limitation is the depth since it will bottom out into the rail. So you either have to calculate the thickness of whatever you are mounting and factor that into the length of the bolt. It's super complicated and or restrictive. The only application I use this setup is for my quick fist mounts. The bolt is flush and out of the way of my shovel and it was included in my hardware kit so made use of it. If you were to use a carriage bolt the nut would be proud and may cause interference, or again, you'd have to grind down the threaded portion for clearance. I did encounter my crossbar bolts backing out on the trail even though I double checked and tighten each one before heading out. Perhaps user error? Maybe include split locking washers? I am going to blue locktite everything. $50 extra for black hardware was a bit much but I did it anyways. The overall versatility of the aluminum crossbar is good but not great. This was my compromise for form over function. Tubular style basket racks give you the confidence of holding your gear in place and won't fall off the sides. You can pretty much place whatever accessory any where you want and you really aren't limited to specific mounting brackets and hardware. It really comes down to what you need and what you pack. For example, if you pack a lot of soft bags, boxes or firewood a basket style would be a better option for simplicity and not having to buy special hardware for mounting points, just need straps or rope! The front runner rack has a similar channel style mounting system but the platform is very large, wide and stable. I do like the basket that Victory just came out with. But I also would like the concept of an optional modular "side rail" that sort of mimics a basket style rack. That would be cool. I wish the aluminum rails had cut outs to accept bolts on both sides! I'm sure the cost to do this is minimal. You have to "pre-plan" when you set up your accessories. For example, I have all of my hole cut outs on the passenger side. I mount my shovel and slide it over to the drivers side and then my traction boards on the passenger side. If i were to change my mind and wanted to move my shovel to the very rear, I'd have to remove my traction boards, slide out that hardware just to get to my shovel hardware. This is a real world situation out on the trail. Ask me how I know! One last thing, the cutouts for the aluminum crossbars to adjust forward and back are very limited. I think Prinsu has more cutouts allowing you to slide the crossbar virtually anywhere you want. Or even add more crossbars. I ran into a few issues that limited me to where I could mount my accessories because the crossbar didn't adjust to where I needed it. I am still very pleased with my purchase and got it when Victory had a sale and it looks great on the GX. Every time I use it I gain more confidence in the durability and versatility for my specific use but it does have a learning curve. Victory 4x4 is a great company and their customer service is top notch. I will continue to support them and can't wait for new products to come out!
Ok but not great
(Flagstaff) | January 30th, 2021
This rack does NOT fit the Rigid Adapt 40” light bar. I would’ve thought that they considered the biggest players in the OffRoad lighting world, but apparently they forgot about Rigid?!? The build quality of the rack itself could use improvement, their logo on the front fairing has an error on mine. Also the hardware came completely unsorted and could be a stronger grade alloy. I will be searching for a new rack that will actually fit my 40” lightbar.
Note From Victory 4x4: We apologize for any confusion. These fairings ARE sized for the standard single-row Rigid SR Series, Baja Designs S8, and countless clone 40" bars. The product description states a max lens width of 41.25" The Adapt bars are slightly larger than that at 41.84"; the Adapt would be the outlier in this situation. It's a cool bar, but not a standard dimension. We keep the fairing tight to "standard" lights to minimize wind noise. You can however easily trim your fairing to fit the bar. Let us know if we can be of any assistance.
