Victory 4x4 EVO Blitz front bumper on a Chevy Colorado ZR2

What's the Best Front Bumper for a 3rd Gen Chevy Colorado ZR2 (2023+)?

TL;DR: The best ZR2 front bumper depends on what you care about most. Our Victory 4x4 EVO Blitz ($2,099, 64 lbs, $14.95 shipping) is the pick if you want a winch, real recovery points, factory skid plate compatibility, and low weight. AEV (about $3,250) is the factory-developed option tied to the ZR2 Bison, DV8's Spec Series (about $1,200) is the budget pick, Relentless Fabrication (about $1,449) is the heavy steel, high-clearance choice, and ADD's Phantom (about $1,999) is about styling and lighting more than winching.

The third gen Colorado ZR2 is already a capable truck. Chevy gave it serious ground clearance and a suspension built for the trail. But if you want to add a winch, protect the front end, or change the look, an aftermarket bumper is worth a look.

The hard part is picking one. Here's how the five main options compare, including ours, with the tradeoffs laid out honestly.

Competitor prices below are approximate advertised starting prices and can change. Shipping, tax, winches, finishing, and accessories add to the total.

What makes the Victory 4x4 EVO Blitz different?

    Victory 4x4 EVO Blitz, $2,099

We built the EVO Blitz differently from an all-steel bumper. It has a 1/4" steel winch cradle and support structure wrapped in a 3/16" aluminum outer shell. Steel goes where mounting and recovery loads happen, and aluminum keeps the weight down. The whole bumper weighs 64 lbs. Everything is laser cut, formed, welded, and powder coated in-house in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and it ships in 1 to 4 weeks.

It works with the ZR2's factory front fascia, so the truck keeps most of its stock look while picking up winch capability and recovery points. You get 3/4" machined D-ring tabs (beveled to work with soft shackles), a built-in mount for a 20" single-row light bar (22" max mounting width), provisions for the factory fog lights, and compatibility with the factory skid plate. Finish is satin-textured black powder coat with silver-textured accents over zinc primer on the steel, or bare metal if you want to finish it yourself.

It fits most 8,000 to 10,000 lb winches. Every winch needs the control box relocated with our Winch Control Relocation Bracket, and larger winches like the Warn Zeon also need the lower radiator shroud trimmed. If you're new to that, we explain it in Winch Control Relocation Explained.

Because of the multi-piece hybrid build, it ships for $14.95 flat rate instead of bumper freight.

The tradeoff: if you're regularly leaning your bumper on rocks, you may prefer all steel. Aluminum saves weight, but it behaves differently under direct impacts.

Best for: ZR2 owners who want a winch, solid recovery points, less weight, and a clean factory-integrated look.

Is the AEV bumper worth the extra money?

AEV ZR2 Front Bumper, about $3,250

AEV has a unique relationship with the Colorado ZR2. Its bumper design is used on the ZR2 Bison, which makes it the obvious pick if you want a factory-developed approach. It has an integrated winch mount designed around the COMEUP Slim 9.5rs and provisions for the factory fog lights. AEV says the bumper passed GM corrosion, vibration, and front impact testing.

It's the most expensive option here, and the matching COMEUP winch kit is a significant extra cost. Because the packaging is designed around one specific winch, check fitment carefully if you want a different one.

Best for: Buyers who value factory integration and the AEV and GM development process.

Is DV8 Offroad the best budget ZR2 bumper?

DV8 Offroad Spec Series, about $1,200

DV8's Spec Series is a high-clearance design with integrated recovery points, a front skid plate, a 20" light bar mount, pod light mounts, and room for a concealed winch. It's one of the least expensive options in this comparison, so if you want an aggressive bumper with lots of lighting and recovery features for well under $2,000, it's worth considering.

Best for: Buyers focused on price, clearance, and built-in accessories.

Who should look at Relentless Fabrication?

Relentless Fabrication ZR2 Hybrid Front Bumper, about $1,449

Relentless builds its third gen ZR2 bumper around trail clearance and protection, using 3/16" steel plate and DOM tubing with a recessed winch mount, recovery points, and auxiliary light provisions.

A few tradeoffs to know: it isn't compatible with the factory skid plate, it ships in bare steel unless you arrange finishing separately, and it has a made-to-order lead time.

Best for: Owners who want heavy steel construction, aggressive clearance, and a traditional off-road bumper look.

What about the Addictive Desert Designs Phantom?

ADD Phantom Front Bumper, about $1,999

The Phantom focuses on a sleek, aggressive look with better clearance. It's steel with aluminum accent panels, an included aluminum skid plate, and several lighting options, and it keeps the factory sensors and recovery points.

It sits near our price, but it isn't primarily designed as a winch mount. If adding a winch is your main goal, another option probably makes more sense.

Best for: Buyers who care most about styling, integrated lighting, and keeping factory sensors.

What should you consider before buying a ZR2 bumper?

Do you need a winch? If recovery is the priority, start with winch-ready designs. Not every aggressive-looking bumper supports a winch.

How much does weight matter? All steel has advantages when you hit things on the trail, but extra weight affects your suspension. Hybrid steel and aluminum designs are an alternative if you want to keep weight down.

What factory equipment do you want to keep? Check compatibility with your factory skid plate, fog lights, parking sensors, cameras, and driver assistance equipment. These details vary by brand and model year.

What's the real installed cost? Don't compare bumper prices alone. Finishing, shipping, lights, winch accessories, and installation can change the math. The cheaper bumper isn't always the better value once everything is added up. For the EVO Blitz, shipping is $14.95, and our ZR2 front bumper bundle ($2,419) adds a Diode Dynamics SS20 light bar, a heavy duty wiring harness, and the winch control relocation bracket, which saves over $260 compared to buying each part separately.

Who the EVO Blitz is NOT for

✗ ZR2 Bison owners. The EVO Blitz fits the 2023+ Colorado ZR2 but does not fit the Bison.

✗ Anyone who wants an all-steel bumper for regular rock contact

✗ Anyone who doesn't want to relocate the winch control box (required for every winch) or trim the lower radiator shroud for a larger winch like the Warn Zeon

✗ Anyone who wants a big visual change. The Blitz is designed to keep the factory fascia look.

✗ Anyone who needs a bumper this week. It's built to order and ships in 1 to 4 weeks.

Also worth knowing: installing it requires trimming the factory plastic fog light brackets (the installation video shows how).

So who makes the best 3rd Gen Colorado ZR2 front bumper?

If factory-developed integration matters most, AEV deserves a serious look. DV8 gives you lots of features for less money, Relentless Fabrication suits people who want heavy steel and aggressive clearance, and ADD's Phantom is worth considering for its looks and lighting.

We believe the EVO Blitz offers the best balance of strength, weight, recovery, and everyday usability. Steel where it counts, aluminum everywhere else, factory skid plate compatibility, built-in lighting provisions, and $14.95 shipping solve a lot of the compromises people run into with traditional steel bumpers.

But the right choice depends on how you use your truck. A ZR2 built for hard rock trails needs something different than one used for exploring, camping, and the occasional recovery.

    Where would I start?

If you know you want a winch and lights, I'd start with the ZR2 front bumper bundle, since it includes the relocation bracket you'll need anyway. If you just want the bumper, start with the EVO Blitz, and browse the rest of our 3rd Gen Colorado parts like the matching aluminum skid plates. Not sure? Call us at 269-353-1184 and tell us how you use your truck.

We're enthusiasts first and manufacturers second. Our goal isn't to convince everyone they need the same bumper. It's to help you pick gear that makes your truck more capable without adding weight, cost, or complexity you don't need.

    FAQ

Does the Victory EVO Blitz fit the Colorado ZR2 Bison?
No. The EVO Blitz fits the 2023+ Chevy Colorado ZR2 but not the ZR2 Bison, which comes with its own AEV bumper.

How much does the EVO Blitz ZR2 bumper weigh?
64 lbs. It uses a 1/4" steel winch cradle inside a 3/16" aluminum shell, which keeps it much lighter than a typical all-steel bumper.

What winch fits the EVO Blitz on a ZR2?
Most 8,000 to 10,000 lb winches fit. Every winch needs the control box relocated, and larger winches like the Warn Zeon also need the lower radiator shroud trimmed.

Can I keep my factory skid plate and fog lights with an aftermarket ZR2 bumper?
With the EVO Blitz, yes. It's compatible with the factory skid plate and has provisions for the factory fog lights. Other brands vary; Relentless, for example, isn't compatible with the factory skid plate.

How much does it cost to ship a ZR2 front bumper?
The EVO Blitz ships for $14.95 flat rate because of its multi-piece build. Many all-steel bumpers ship by freight, so check shipping before you compare prices.
