Your FJ's oil pan and front drivetrain hang low enough to take the first hit on every ledge, and the factory skid was never built for real rock crawling. This engine skid replaces it with frame-mounted plate that can take the abuse, and since it has a removable oil filter panel and drain hole, oil changes are actually easier than with the stock skid.
