Q Chad Washburn • 03/19/2020, 11:03:03 PM What’s the height when it’s mounted on the camper shell, and how much weight can it hold.
A 03/25/2020, 3:11:33 PM It adds around 4" to the height. The capacity will be limited by your topper capacity, these racks can handle more weight than they typically can.
Q Damon Albers • 04/23/2020, 9:38:06 AM my Tacoma did not come with rails, what is the solution?
A 04/23/2020, 4:41:41 PM You can install them yourself, see this thread for more information: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/installing-yakima-tracks-on-camper-top.483625/
Q Mark Pettinger • 04/24/2020, 10:11:07 PM What is the weight capacity of the rack?
A 04/27/2020, 3:26:23 PM This will be limited to the capacity of your cap.
Q Jacob Wilkie • 04/25/2020, 3:13:33 PM What is the minimum and maximum spacing between the center of the track rails on the cross bars? I am looking to install front runner outfitters rtt quick connects and would like to be sure the mounts will reach between two of the cross bars because installation requires a bracket mounted on two separate bars.
A 04/28/2020, 2:56:13 PM They are around 10" on center and are adjustable +-1"
Q James Hulgan • 04/28/2020, 2:17:02 PM What is the length and width for a short bed vs. long bed?
A 04/28/2020, 2:56:13 PM They are both around 47" wide. The short bed is around 53" total length, the long bed is around 65" total length.
Q Katari Fereira • 05/24/2020, 10:12:48 PM What size/length track would you recommend for the short bed shell? Thule and Yakima have 54" or 42." Does it work with rhino tracks or proline? Thanks!
A 05/27/2020, 3:57:49 PM The 42" will be fine for the short bed. We haven't tested it with any other tracks, but if they are similar design it will work fine.
Q Scott T • 05/25/2020, 3:31:40 PM My topper roof rails are 41.5" apart. Could I Add spacers between the brackets and the side rails ~5/16"? Or could I drill new holes in the brackets to fit my roof rails?
A 05/27/2020, 3:57:49 PM Spacers would work fine. You may need longer bolts.
Q felicia • 07/02/2020, 1:42:47 AM Can this roof camper rack fit on a colorado?
A 07/07/2020, 2:36:11 PM If your Colorado topper has the rails in the specs we talk about in the description yes, no problem.
Q felicia • 07/19/2020, 4:41:11 AM Can this camper rack fit a 2016 Chevy Colorado short bed?
A 07/21/2020, 11:32:11 AM If the specs on the rack match the specs on your truck cap, yes.
Q John Ferguson • 09/13/2020, 11:22:18 PM I have a '18 Toyota Tundra Double cab with a 6'5" bed. I have a Leer shell, and I was wondering if the long bed version of the rack would fit? It doesn't look like the Yakima tracks on my shell are wide enough so I would be using the RTT mounts instead of the standard rack mounts.
A 09/14/2020, 4:02:23 PM The long bed version is around 65" total length. So it should fit with your 6.5' cap.
Q Mike • 09/20/2020, 12:58:05 PM I have the Rhino Rack Tracks on my Snugtop Canopy. Would these work with the Rhino Rack Tracks?
A 09/24/2020, 11:01:43 AM We have not tested this, but it doesn't seem impossible. You would have to figure out a hardware solution for the Rhino tracks to either our included mounts, or two the alternate mounting mounts we talk about on the product page.
Q kevin morris • 11/04/2020, 12:48:43 PM I am looking at snap in T slot covers from mscdirect.com to cover the slots in the cross bars. before I can order them I need to know what series 80/20 the cross bars are.
A 11/10/2020, 5:20:32 PM 10
Q Gage • 11/27/2020, 4:16:21 AM Would I be able to mount this on top of your cab height mid size bed rack? If so, would it run flush with your roof rack?
A 11/30/2020, 5:04:51 PM You could, but it would be slightly lower than the roof rack. You could space it up to match pretty easily though.
Q Patrick Richoux • 03/21/2021, 10:53:01 PM How hard is it to install just using the RTT mounts?
A 03/22/2021, 6:22:06 PM It's no harder to install this way.
Q Aaron B • 05/15/2021, 0:54:44 AM My leer truck cab does not have tracks on it. Do you guys have a track install kit or recommend a certain one?
A 05/21/2021, 9:59:41 AM We don't have a kit, no. Maybe Leer has a recommendation on what to run?
Q Scott Sanders • 07/24/2021, 8:19:45 PM As far as loading from the rear, the rack and cross bar comes up short on my Snugtop and I need to put something down to prevent scratching and damaging the canopy. Has anyone drilled and added another cross bar or maybe turned the whole setup around? Canoe or ladder things like that.
A 08/12/2021, 3:19:20 PM You could drill and add a crossbar, but depending on the crown of your top in center, you may not have clearance for a bar turned on it's side. It should mount backwards no problem. Give that a try. You could also put some 3M paint protection film in that area to keep from scratching the paint.
Q clay • 07/27/2021, 12:53:56 PM How many slats are included for a long bed?
A 08/12/2021, 4:01:01 PM 6
Q Mike • 08/20/2021, 2:04:44 PM Sorry if I'm missing it, but what is the weight of the rack? And how easy is it to mount a RTT to those crossbars?
A 09/02/2021, 4:03:54 PM 25 lbs. It's simple with most tents.
Q Guy • 09/22/2021, 5:07:57 PM The given weight for the Tacoma Topper for shortbed canopies Code: VRKCAP is listed as 25 lbs. The given weight for the Tacoma Topper Double Cab rack Code: VT23RK is listed as 46 lbs. Is this accurate information? Does the cab rack weigh twice as much as the canopy rack?
A 09/23/2021, 1:26:44 PM Yes. More material, fairings, and hardware in the cab rack.
Q Luke Wignall • 02/01/2022, 10:41:13 AM My topper's factory installed rails are 37" apart, can I still mount this?
A 02/02/2022, 2:15:31 PM Yes, you can position the mounts anywhere along the width of the rack, which is about 47".
Q Danny • 06/22/2022, 2:50:06 AM Is this a two rack system? A roof rack on top of the cab and another rack for the cap?
A 06/22/2022, 2:01:57 PM This is just the cab rack, although it's designed to work alongside a cab rack if you chose to run that also.
Q Brian Brown • 06/22/2022, 11:58:01 AM Do the cross bars work with Thule mounting equipment such as their J hooks for kayaks?
A 06/22/2022, 2:01:57 PM There tends to be enough adjustability in the Thule stuff. If you run their JLo mounts, if you remove the rubber pads on the clamps it's a perfect fit.
Q Tyler Mcgahen • 08/11/2022, 1:00:33 AM How far apart (on center) do the rails need to be to fit the mounting brackets. I'm adding rails to my topper, want to make sure I get the measurements correct before drilling
A 08/12/2022, 4:16:41 PM The mounts now attach to the rack crossbars and can mount at any width along the rack crossbars. The max width (width of the crossbars) would depend on which size rack you have. 47" or 54".
Q Jerry Gorman • 10/24/2022, 12:25:50 PM My Century topper has the Thule slide installed. Does this rack come with all the hardware to install it?
A 10/27/2022, 10:35:04 AM We do supply (8) 5/16”-18 t-nuts and bolts to mount these to most tracks.
Q Sam • 10/26/2022, 9:18:26 PM My rails are 43" apart, not the 42.375" as suggested in the video. If 43" don't work, is there something I can do that can make it work?
A 10/27/2022, 10:07:38 AM We actually changed the mounts on this to be more universal, check out the install document. There is a 43.5" max mounting rail width now.
Q Alex • 12/19/2022, 9:44:22 PM Topper does not have rails, however am I able to just install directly on to topper??
A 12/20/2022, 2:28:33 PM We recommend adding the rails to spread the load over a larger area. As long as your topper was designed to carry weight on top that is.
Q Robert Powers • 04/10/2023, 8:43:40 AM I need one for 2005 model with 6 ft bed. Do you have one for this size bed? Thanks
A 04/17/2023, 7:24:12 PM The long bed is around 65" total length and should work fine.
Q Randy Horne • 08/22/2023, 5:52:04 PM So I see an answered question directing us to tacomaworld for installing the yakima roof rails, I’m assuming this canopy rack will bolt into the yakima rails with your provided hardware ?
A 11/22/2023, 12:13:35 PM Yes, that is correct.
Q Sam • 09/13/2023, 7:48:18 AM Does this rack redo fit to a all cab contour canopy mounting rILS
A 10/19/2023, 4:23:07 PM Please reach out to our CS team at [email protected]
Q Brandon • 11/05/2023, 0:09:10 AM What is the weight capacity for this rack?
A 11/10/2023, 11:48:28 AM The capacity will be limited by your topper capacity, these racks can handle more weight than the topper typically can.

Beyond satisfied.

I got both the truck and the shell racks and I am very happy with how everything came together. I had to install tracks on my shell which involved some drilling and lining everything up but everything worked out. The instructions were very clear and straightforward. I am very impressed that even after more than 6 months of use on trails and dirt roads not a single bolt/screw has come loose— everything is tight and intact. I use it mostly to load SUP boards, kayaks and long pieces of lumber (easily 16ft long pieces). Great investment!
Easy installation, excellent materials and a great look

I looked at multiple manufacturers and reviews to find a roof/cap matching combination unit. Victory seemed to have the best combination at a reasonable price so I ordered both racks. installed the roof rack on my 2020 Tacoma first while waiting for my cap to be delivered/installed. It was supposed to come with roof rails but the cap company shipped them uninstalled. I installed the cap rails and measured to be sure the roof rack would fit per the site but found they had changed the rack to adjust to fit almost any rail width. A plus for Victory over the instructions I read before ordering. The install was easier than the Tacoma roof rack and was installed in less than an hour. I added Loctite to all the screws to avoid anything coming loose on the road. There were many more screws and mount pieces than needed in the bag and they didn't match the instructions so I assume they added extras for other mounting options that I didn't need. All the mounting materials were solid metal and I'm confident to use it on the highway or off road. I wanted the matching cap rack to be level with the roof rack for hauling long items but on mine the cap rack is over an inch lower. There isn't an adjustment for height so I think I will add plates and longer mounting screws this summer to level the height between the two. The look on the truck is great and I've had a lot of people come over to look at it and compliment the look. I'd give it 4.5 stars only because it lacks height adjustment to match the roof rack, otherwise it would be a solid 5 stars!
Great rack

I bought this to mount to my ARE V-Series. It was a tight fit (I completely assembled the whole rack and then mounted it to the cap) but that made me feel like it was very secure. I've transported a rooftop tent on the rack as well for a couple thousand miles, city and highway driving, and I've yet to have a loose bolt or any issues. I have gotten a lot of positive remarks and several people have asked me about the rack (I also have the matching cab rack too, and some paracord handles from Tacoma Twins). I definitely like this rack system!
Matches The Cab Rack Perfectly
(MD) | April 2nd, 2020
I bought this rack for my LEER cap and mounted it on Yakima tracks. It worked out exactly as I had hoped. Prior to buying, I did a lot of research online to make sure I had all components necessary. I would advise doing the same. They gave me a lot of extra hardware and the brackets allow for creativity on how you mount it (in the event you have to rig something together). I watched their install video several times and they give you all the information you need on how to mount it properly. When mounted on the tracks, it sits perfectly level with the front Cab Rack that they sell. It has an awesome look to it, and I’ve got a lot of compliments! The rack itself is very sturdy and well constructed. The only 2 things I would like to see differently is that it was a little shorter than I expected. I have the 5’ Tacoma bed and a LEER XR cap. I would have liked to see the rack maybe 3 inches longer, but that’s just my preference. The other thing I would have liked would be to have a third mounting bracket for the center of the rack. Being that it’s on a cap, I want the weight to be distributed as evenly as possible to not compromise the integrity of the Fiberglas shell. Overall this is a fantastic product and I think you could mount it in a lot of different ways if you have any creativity and some simple tools. Their customer service was incredibly helpful and very responsive. They were able to answer all my questions. I will be buying from them again!
